Having access to a wide variety of homeschool resources is a huge benefit in any homeschool. Sometimes I can spend hours searching for a quality supplementary resource on the internet. Colouring pages, word searches, art ideas just to name a few. I am thoroughly enjoying our one year access to the Download Club with My Teaching Library. Not only do I not need to search Pinterest or Google for quality resources, I now have immediate access to thousands of resources. The best part is that the Download Club membership with My Teaching Library offers unlimited downloads/resources.
My Teaching Library
With My Teaching Library, you can easily and quickly find resources and materials for all ages from PreK to Grade 12 and for all subjects, including special occasions, holidays and any other subject you can think of. All the resources are sorted by subject or you can choose to select them by grade. The downloadable PDFs make it very convenient to use and reprint if required.
How We Used the Download Club
We started by using some of the colouring pages with all three of my sons. There is a lot of variety and skill levels to choose from. My boys really enjoyed helping to choose colouring sheets and we usually completed at least one per week.
There is a search tool in My Teaching Library that makes it very easy to find resources. When we are working on a specific topic, I can easily search in My Teaching Library to find a resource that relates. For example, since fall has arrived, I searched for a resource that would be a fun activity. We found a November Skills Mat package that includes lots of neat activities relating to autumn and Thanksgiving. The activities are short, so we have been working through one page per week.
Since there are resources for a wide range, I primarily used the membership for my older two sons. However, since I could print more than one copy, my youngest son really enjoyed colouring his own copy of each worksheet that we used.
I can see this Download Club membership being extremely useful in the coming months when I would like to expand on a topic or if the boys need further help in a certain subject area. For example, there are tons of math worksheets and math posters that will give further practise and/or explanations.
For teachers, there is also teacher resources such as desk topper templates, months of the year posters, flash cards, back to school and end of the school year materials and bulletin board materials.
There is even recipe templates, a health curriculum for grades Kindergarten to Grade 5th, and numerous posters relating the body and some music resources.
Fall Resources
This fall, I am planning to work on the Foliage Creation art project that I have downloaded from My Teaching Library. The download includes examples of creations made with leaves. I will then look for some neat winter and Christmas art projects.
My Recommendation
The variety of resources available through the Download Club with My Teaching Library is excellent. This membership would work well for families looking for supplementary worksheets and resources and it would also work very well for families making their own curriculum from a variety of sources. The boys and I plan to continue to use My Teaching Library when we are looking for an extension to our current curriculum or when we are looking for some quiet time activities.
