Disclosure: I received this complimentary product through the Homeschool Review Crew.

I believe it is so important for our children to have a basic understanding of history and how our world has been changed by the new land discoveries and why someone would make a voyage into new land. The Time Travelers U.S. History Studies : New World Explorers curriculum from Home School in the Woods has been a fun homeschool social studies unit study for our family.

This curriculum gives an in-depth look about New World Explorers over 25 lessons that can be spread across 5-10 weeks.  It discusses reasons for exploration, a sailor’s life, ships, navigation, 23 explorer profiles, pirates and navigational equipment.  There is a wide variant of activities for your child to work on, some include creative writing, penmanship pages, European receipts, note booking activities, science experiments, 3-dimensional projects, 10 lap book projects and a final exploration celebration at the end.

How We Used New World Explorers

To start, we received an electronic file that includes detailed instructions the lessons, lesson planner, lesson projects, lesson text, teacher keys and a list of additional resources.  Our goal was to work on approximately lessons per week.   I was quickly able to print the required PDFs and my son was easily able to work through the projects with a bit of assistance from me.

We started each lesson by reading the text and then working on the colouring, cutting and pasting of the project.  This provided an excellent opportunity for discussions.

We loved making spice cookies, trying Spanish food and trying some dried fruit, lots of colouring and building a ship.  There are so many more great projects that we will get to work on over the next few weeks.

It is always fun to expand our learning with living books and this curriculum provides a great list of other reading resources.  I have picked up a couple of the resources and we are enjoying them as part of our bedtime reading.

Our Future Plans with Home School in the Woods

Every time we use a Home School in the Woods curriculum, we always want to do another.   My son thoroughly enjoys working through the lessons and we definitely look forward to doing some Individual Timeline Set (Grades K-12) in the future.

The Homeschool Review Crew had the opportunity to also review other great curriculum options from Home School in the Woods.  Be sure to check out some reviews on the other product lines on the Homeschool Review Crew blog.

There are lots of cattle operations producing cattle and beef for customers to choose from. You need to develop a relationship and a niche for your own brand/operation. Building this will then form relationships with customers that trust you, know what to expect from you and in turn want to support you.
